💧 Building Our Pop-Up Pool: How We Bring the Water to You
When people first hear “pop-up swimming pool,” their first reaction is usually:
“Wait, you build a swimming pool from scratch?”
Yes, we do, sometimes with three pools up at one time! While it might seem like magic, there’s a whole journey, it is hard work and lots of lessons are learnt along the way.
🌞What We Have Changed and Learnt
While we want the pool open all the time throughout the year, safety is our main priority. When having the pool up in the Winter months this caused us major setbacks and lots of risks. The weather caused the marquee to break meaning there were several risks and safety concerns that made it generally unsuitable or potentially dangerous.
✅ What’s the Alternative?
Seasonal programming: We decided that the pop-up pools would only occur during the warmer months, leaving out the height of Winter to ensure all pupils and staff are safe and protected.
🐳What May Seem Wrong but is Normal
As these pools are quite new to people and have not been seen before there are always a few worries. We are happy to listen to your concerns and put your mind at ease.
The two most popular questions are:
Does the pool usually bend like that? Yes, The Pool Boding is completely normal, that is how the pool is built and the way the water fills in.
Does it leak? Yes this is completely normal, it is a big pool holding gallons of water, leaking will occur but does not affect the performance of the pool.
💬 What’s Next?
We always want to better our pools and are constantly looking at how we can make things easier and safer! Our next step is to use PVC paneling instead of fabric, this is easier to build, takes less time to install and overall makes it a more secure structure.
🧽We are always innovating our pool maintenance as well. We have now started using Multi-use chemical tablets, these are little spaceships in the pool that do everything! Before, staff would have to do this everyday including the weekends. Our next step is to introduce an electronic automatic chemical management system, meaning everything is on record by a click of a button on your phone.
